Job summary

A healthcare organization in Leeds seeks a Healthcare Assistant to join their busy team. Qualifications

FullTime: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday to cover operational hours between 8am - 6:30pm)

Circa £23,874.96 per annum inclusive (dependent on skills and experience)

Interview Date: Wednesday 5th November (all interviews will be held face to face)

Leeds Student Medical Practice (LSMP) are a busy GP surgery, close to the University of Leeds, caring for students and their families studying in the City. We have a permanent vacancy for a Healthcare Assistant to join our large, supportive, busy and friendly team. We want the most resilient people to come and join our LSMP practice - no two days will be the same.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our caring, enthusiastic, and hardworking Nursing team at LSMP.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to perform a varied role which will include general health checks with a focus on phlebotomy. Flexibility and the ability to work in a busy clinical environment is important as are outstanding communication and IT skills. You will enjoy working autonomously as well as working as part of larger multi disciplinary team. Self-motivation and using your initiative is essential.

Prior experience of working in a General Practice or Primary Care would be a great advantage but is not essential. Candidates would ideally possess the Care Certificate or have a willingness to work towards this.

Job responsibilities

The post holder works under indirect supervision of the Lead Practice Nurse and undertakes tasks and duties delegated by the practice nurses or a suitably qualified registered professional. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of our diverse patient population and following our internal policies and procedures along with best practice.

The nursing team works in partnership with the medical team to provide care to patients with undifferentiated conditions (minor illness and minor injury) at the point of contact or referring/signposting them to alternative appropriate services.

Qualifications
  • General education (GCSEs or equivalent)
  • Have completed the Care Certificate or willingness to work towards this qualification
  • Certificates relating to professional areas of the role
Experience
  • Previous experience of working alongside nursing teams
  • Experience of working as a health care assistant or phlebotomist
