Job Description

The Healthcare Assistant will participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care under the direction of the registered nurse. Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the reception of patients and relatives within the clinical area
  • Monitoring pressure areas and assisting qualified staff in changing wound dressings
  • Escorting patients who do not require constant qualified care
  • Serving drinks and meals to patients and providing assistance to those requiring help
  • Assisting in bed making and the disposal of soiled linen
  • Recording patient intake, including peg feeds, and monitoring temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and pulse oximetry

The successful candidate will also be required to work collaboratively with others in the ward or clinic to ensure that patient needs are met, support people's equality, diversity, and rights, and participate in nursing audit.
