Job description

As a leading provider of NHS Services in Surrey, we are passionate about supporting our staff to fulfill their true potential.

To help us achieve this, we need to grow our team of Healthcare Assistants across Royal Surrey Hospitals, including St Luke's Cancer Centre, our Community Hospitals, and Bank.

You will play an essential role in the planning and delivery of care under the supervision of a registered team member, working hands-on in a hospital environment.

This is a 24/7 position, based on-site at the hospitals, covering long day and night shifts.

We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated, compassionate individuals who embody the 6 Cs of nursing principles to join our team.

Your Training, Development & Progression

The Royal Surrey values its Healthcare Assistants by actively supporting their development and education. Successful applicants will undergo a comprehensive induction aligned with the Care Certificate Framework. Staff are supported to achieve the National Care Certificate within 3 months, with achievements celebrated at an award ceremony.

If you already hold the Care Certificate and have proven experience working in an acute Trust, you may be eligible for a shortened induction program.

Please note, this role does not meet UKVI sponsorship requirements.

Being a Healthcare Assistant

You will provide various care and support services to hospital patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include
  • Performing clinical tasks such as collecting samples, swabs, and recording patient fluid intake/output.
  • Ensuring patient safety and comfort, assisting with daily activities, and using equipment to support mobility and care.
  • Monitoring vital signs like temperature, pulse, and blood pressure, maintaining patient records, and reporting abnormalities to senior staff.

If successful, you will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre on 27th May 2025. This session cannot be held virtually or rescheduled. If you cannot attend on this date, please apply to a later advert.

You will need to bring three forms of original ID to the assessment centre.

Royal Surrey is a compassionate, collaborative Trust committed to staff wellbeing and professional growth. We offer a comprehensive health and wellbeing program, and are dedicated to developing our colleagues. Our diverse team ensures you feel valued from your initial interview through your entire career.

We are clinically led, providing integrated hospital and community care, including regional specialist cancer services. Our main hospital is in Guildford, with community sites in Milford, Haslemere, and Cranleigh, and adult community health services across Guildford and Waverley.

The Care Quality Commission has rated us as Outstanding overall.

Royal Surrey has a proud history and is investing over £45 million in facilities and equipment in the coming years. Now is an excellent time to join us.

Note: Although not our usual practice, adverts may close early, so we encourage early applications.
