The overall purpose of the Lung Cancer Screening Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer to save lives.

Main duties of the job

The Lung Cancer Screening Service has been implemented throughout the UK in areas identified with high disease prevalence where significant impact can be made from the recognition of early‑stage lung cancer & offering curative treatment.

Healthcare Assistant Lung Cancer Screening Programme

Location: West London – covering sites in W1T 1QD, CR0 4XS, HA1 2TU, KT2 5BH

Salary: £23,000 + £4,200 Car Allowance

Travel: Full UK Driving Licence Required

Shifts: 12‑hour patterns, 3 days a week (8am‑8pm), including weekends and bank holidays

  • Support clinical colleagues in delivering high‑quality care in a fast‑paced, mobile environment
  • Assist with patient handovers between screening and CT scan locations
  • Maintain accurate patient records and ensure data confidentiality
  • Help manage clinic flow, support scheduling, and respond to patient queries
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness, safety, and infection control
  • Contribute to a 7‑day service, including bank holidays, with occasional remote admin work
  • Experience in a patient or customer‑facing role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and patient management systems
  • A flexible, team‑oriented approach with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites
