Job description

Job Title: Healthcare Assistant (Surgery Assistant)

Optical Express, a leader in eye care for over 30 years, is seeking a Healthcare Assistant (Surgery Assistant) for our Glasgow clinic. This role involves traveling to support other Optical Express clinics. We are committed to delivering exceptional patient care, outstanding clinical outcomes, and investing in our people and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Perform pre-operative testing and assist during consent appointments, providing patients with necessary information.
2. Discharge patients post-procedure, instructing on eye care, updating records, and scheduling follow-ups.
3. Prepare and calibrate lasers, understand data, and ensure safe operation.
4. Manage patient flow and address queries to minimize waiting times.
5. Assist surgeons during consent and treatment procedures, including acting as a scrub assistant for LVC procedures.
6. Support the surgical team in the IOL theatre, including instrument decontamination.
7. Participate in end-of-day activities: updating files, filing, reporting, cleaning, and stock management.
8. Report incidents and contribute to patient safety and risk management.
