Overview

As a Health Care Assistant you will work under direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse/Nursing Associate. The care you give to patients will be compassionate, caring, and high quality. You will recognise your abilities and limitations of your competence and only carry out those tasks for which you are trained. As a member of the ward team you will support the other staff, act in the best interest of patients and treat everyone with respect. This vacancy is for 1x Full Time and 1x Part Time positions in the short stay surgical care ward at Frimley Park Hospital. As a Trust employee you will honour your work commitments, be reliable, trustworthy and uphold the values and beliefs of the Trust and the Skills for Health Code of Conduct. Please note this is a front facing clinical role where a high level of spoken and written English language is required. Please do not use AI software for completion of your application for this role. You currently must be in the UK and have current experience of working in a UK Healthcare setting as an HCA.

Main duties of the job
  • Carrying out assigned tasks as part of the clinical team in support of registered nurses
  • Undertake some aspects of care provision without direct supervision, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of patients
  • Promote dignity and human rights through person-centred care principles
  • Assist members of the multi-disciplinary team to maintain patients’ fundamental needs and ensure patient safety
  • Carry out duties in support and under the supervision of a registered nurse or Nursing Associate
  • Participate in direct patient care and other general duties within the clinical area
  • Provide support and leadership to care assistants and assist with a range of both clinical and non-clinical duties
  • Assist with a range of non-clinical duties

  • Provide excellent customer care to ensure patients come first
  • Undertake delegated clinical care duties to deliver agreed care plans, acting on own initiative
  • Mentor and support new-to-care and Health Care Support Workers on the care certificate and act as a buddy to new starters
  • Ensure patients receive high-quality clinical care and a positive experience while respecting customs and beliefs
  • Recognise and avoid situations detrimental to health and wellbeing
  • Care for enhanced care observation patients as required, under the Trust’s policy; this may involve MHCA responsibilities after relevant training
  • Act as an advocate for patients to ensure a patient-centred approach and alignment with NHS standards
