Job summary

The Woodmill in Cullompton, operated by Elysium Healthcare, is seeking a Healthcare Assistant to provide compassionate care to patients in a forensic/acute mental health setting. You will work as part of a supportive team, carrying out essential duties including patient rounds, care planning, and record-keeping.

The role offers a robust benefits package and opportunities for training, with shifts of 12.5 hours across 3–4 days, including nights and weekends, at Exeter Road, Cullompton, Devon.

What you will be doing

Use your knowledge, experience in a Forensic or Acute in patients' mental health service environment, and caring nature to make a positive difference to the lives of people with Mental Health conditions.

Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you've made someone's life better.

The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends.

The Woodmill is a 18 bed unit creates a pathway for patients to step down through their recovery. Ivy is a 6 bed admission area and Rose is a 12 bed rehabilitation area,with the option to flex within the 12 bed area to a four bed section that can create a further step down with a separate entrance for those patients that are progressing well and are preparing for discharge to the community.

The aim of the service is to support women to improve their self-worth, build a better quality of life for themselves and to equip them with the skills needed for community living and increased independence.
