Elysium Healthcare Limited in Cullompton is hiring a Healthcare Assistant to join The Woodmill, an 18-bed unit supporting women through recovery and community living. Your role focuses on compassionate care in a forensic/acute mental health setting.

You’ll perform ward rounds, monitor behaviours, update records, and assist with personal care, with shifts of 12.5 hours across 3–4 days per week, including nights and weekends. A positive attitude and resilience are essential.

• Experience in a Forensic or Acute Mental Health service is essential.
• Care experience in healthcare settings and updating patient records.
• Willingness to work 12.5-hour shifts including nights and weekends.

What you will be doing

Use your knowledge, experience in a Forensic or Acute in patients' mental health service environment, and caring nature to make a positive difference to the lives of people with Mental Health conditions .

Your day-to-day will include ward rounds, analysing behaviours and adapting care accordingly with colleagues, updating patient records, and providing overall care and support, which may include assisting with personal hygiene.

It can be quite a challenging environment at times, so a positive attitude, compassion, resilience and vigilance are important. But it is hugely rewarding to see people improve because of your involvement, knowing that you’ve made someone’s life better.

The shift pattern is 12.5 hours a day, 3-4 days a week including nights and weekends.

The Woodmill is a 18 bed unit creates a pathway for patients to step down through their recovery. Ivy is a 6 bed admission area and Rose is a 12 bed rehabilitation area,with the option to flex within the 12 bed area to a four bed section that can create a further step down with a separate entrance for those patients that are progressing well and are preparing for discharge to the community.

The aim of the service is to support women to improve their self-worth, build a better quality of life for themselves and to equip them with the skills needed for community living and increased independence.
