A healthcare organization in Castleford is seeking an experienced Health Care Assistant to support their team in providing top-notch care. Responsibilities include patient assessments, vaccinations, and maintaining medical records. A flexible schedule is necessary. REPORTS TO Nurse manager
We are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant towork alongside our established team to provide excellent care to our patientpopulation. You will assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients,including treatment, preventative care, screening and patient education. Youwill act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors, nursesand other members of the primary care team.
The role is for 27 hours a week. However, flexibility isessential as you will also be requested to cover for holidays and sickness. Previousexperience as a Health Care Assistant in General Practice or another busyclinical environment is essential.
New patient registration checks, includingcompleting any necessary paperwork and making any necessary claims to theHealth Authority and referrals within the Practice
NHS Health Checks,ECG, BP monitoring, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Assisting with flu, pneumococcal and othervaccination programmes as required
Provide lifestyle advice to patients, making anynecessary referrals within the practice
Weight monitoring
Ensure clinical waste collection runs smoothy,reporting any problems to the Nurse Manager.
Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection
Restocking/maintaining equipment
Restocking of clinical areas and consultingrooms
Participate in the administrative andprofessional responsibilities of the Practice team
Ensure the clinical computer system is kept upto date with accurate details recorded
Ensure accurate completion of all necessarydocumentation associated with patient health care and registration with thePractice
Ensure collection and maintenance of statisticalinformation required for regular and ad hoc reports
Attend and participate in Practice meetings asrequired
Assist in formulation of Practice philosophy,strategy and policy
To create and send recall letters for clinics
To assist in seasonal and special projects asrequested e.g. flu campaign
Ordering and display Health Promotion materials
Ensure that phlebotomy requests are accurate inadvance of each consulting session

Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to thepost
Driving will be required in this post to enable theHCA to carry out home visits as requested by the practice at either site.
The employee must hold a full, clean driving licence.
