We are offering both static placements on one ward and rotations across the wards in Surgery and Orthopaedics to develop wider knowledge and experience opportunities.

As an employer and sponsor licence holder, to be able to provide sponsorship to overseas nationals via the Skilled Worker route we must ensure that we adhere to the sponsorship requirements set by UK Visas and Immigration. After carefully reviewing this role, we do not believe that this position meets the requirements for sponsorship.

NB: We do not offer remote interviews for HCA vacancies.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience is advantageous but not essential. The Trust is committed to your development and will create a dedicated personal development plan for you, to make sure you are fully supported. We have a dedicated education team who are committed to guide and nurture you through your career.

Our hospitals are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our staff work on a shift basis to ensure our patients receive the very best care at all times.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will carry out a broad range of clinical duties, under the guidance of our registrants, including:

  • Establishing a professional rapport with your patients, their relatives and your colleagues.
  • To have a good understanding of the complex needs of your patients.
  • Communicate effectively with your patients, their relatives and your colleagues.
  • Ensure privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Delivering personal care including assisting patients with their elimination needs.
  • Have full understanding of a patients mobility abilities and provide assistance when required.
  • Providing support to patients who require enhanced care.
  • To assist patients, where necessary by the use of appropriate aids/appliance, to achieve physical comfort.
  • Serve meals and drinks to patients, and assist patients with their nutritional needs.
  • Bed making, correct disposal of linen and waste.
  • Provide information to enable the effectiveness of the care to be evaluated and accurate records maintained.
  • Contribute to patient safety.
  • Work collaboratively with your colleagues, to deliver high standards of patient care.
Person Specification
  • Care Certificate
  • NVQ or Apprenticeship qualification at Level 2 or above in Care or equivalent.
  • If attained a level 2 must be willing to work towards a level 3 Apprenticeship once started in the Trust
Experience
  • Experience of working within a team/team environment.
  • Experience of working in NHS.
  • Experience of working in health care setting with a range of client groups.
