Job Title: Health Care Assistant

Are you a caring individual looking to work in an outstanding rated Trust? Tarrant Ward, based at Blandford Community Hospital, is seeking either experienced or new-to-care Health Care Assistants to join their team.

About the Role: As a Health Care Assistant, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team in our two palliative care suites, providing the best care to patients and their families in their last weeks or days of life. Our Elderly Rehabilitation and End of Life Care unit has achieved a nationally recognized Gold Standard Framework award for end-of-life care.

We offer a structured induction programme and opportunities for professional development, including Trainee Nursing Apprenticeships and Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeships.

Development Opportunities: For those new to care with no healthcare experience, we provide a development plan to progress from a band 2 to a band 3 Health Care Assistant upon successful completion.

Employment Details: This is a full-time position, with flexible part-time options available (minimum 22.5 hours). We offer various flexible working patterns:

  • Early: 07:30 – 15:30
  • Late: 12:30 – 20:30
  • Long Day: 07:30 – 20:30
  • Nights: 20:15 – 07:45

Weekend and public holiday shifts are paid at an enhanced rate. Please note, applications requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship are ineligible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist registered nursing staff in providing high-quality, individualized care to patients, relatives, and carers.
  • Support patients in gaining independence and mobility for safe discharge.
  • Participate in therapeutic activities for patients.
