Job description

DO NOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION IF YOU ALREADY HOLD A LEVEL 2 QUALIFICATION OR EQUIVALENT IN DIRECT CARE (INCLUDING NVQ'S, HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE OR EQUIVALENT

Functional Skills - all successful applicants will need to undertake a skill scan and initial assessment in English and Maths. On completion of this, you will be given a personalised plan to develop your skills.

Please ensure you include all your qualifications on your application form - if not included you may not be shortlisted.

During the apprenticeship training programme, you will work towards achieving the requirements of the personal specification. The off-job training will be provided in house and within working hours.

On completion of the apprenticeship programme and meeting the necessary work standard, this role will continue as an NHS Agenda for Change Band 2 and development through further training could be offered.

Main duties of the job
  • Contribute to the delivery of care and clinical activity in accordance with agreed plan of care and appropriate policies, procedures and protocols of ward/department.
  • Report any alteration in patients'/client's condition including the initiation of emergency action to the qualified clinical nurse.
  • To be aware of spiritual, cultural and religious needs of patients and to ensure care provided is particularly sensitive to those needs.
  • Collect specimens of urine, faeces, or sputum as directed by qualified clinical nurse, ensuring its safe storage/transport or disposal as appropriate
