Job description

Primary Care Dietitians are proud to deliver the Family Food Programme on behalf of Doncaster Council, leaders in Compassionate Approaches to Weight.

They have commissioned this innovative service to support first-time families from early pregnancy or adoption, providing knowledge, practical skills, and tools for optimal nutrition for themselves and their children.

The programme recognizes that diet quality is heavily influenced by surroundings and circumstances, not just personal choices.

The focus is on making small, sustainable behavioral changes, considering broader outcomes such as family harmony, self-esteem, physical activity, and food behaviors, beyond traditional weight management targets.

The aim is to foster positive, peaceful relationships with food, reduce body image stigma, and develop sustainability through training other professionals and peer supporters.

As a new initiative, an evaluation will be conducted from the outset to inform ongoing improvements.
