Qualifications

Job description

The Role

The main role for the Health Visitor (HV) is to be the designated named HV for all children within their caseload from antenatal to school entry age, excluding the unborn child. This involves initiating the child's planning process. The HV is responsible for monitoring the child's wellbeing and assessing any needs that arise. They will work in partnership with the child's family and all involved agencies to develop and monitor a child's plan.

The postholder is responsible and accountable for maintaining clinical, staff, and information governance standards.

What you'll need to bring
  • Registered nurse or midwife at degree level or equivalent
  • Post-registration qualification in Health Visiting/Public Health Nursing, registered on Part 3 of the NMC register
  • Masters level education in a relevant nursing area, or equivalent knowledge through NES modules on Assessment, Leadership, and Critical Thinking
  • Understanding of legislation related to information sharing, data storage, and public protection
  • Knowledge of health and social care pathways, safeguarding, early intervention, and protection
  • Experience of caseload management and partnership working with families
  • Skills in using assessment tools to determine referral pathways
  • Ability to manage risks and concerns through critical thinking
  • Professional advice provision within a multi-agency setting prioritizing children's safety
  • Leadership in discussions and decision-making in complex situations
  • Experience in developing policies, procedures, and service standards
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence

Please note, a full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required for all vacancies where a driving licence is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Postgraduate certificate in Child Protection
Contract Details

Permanent, full-time or part-time, with various hours. Salary will be pro-rata for part-time roles.

Location and Working Pattern

This role is based at Viewpark Health Centre. The working pattern will be confirmed by the hiring manager. While the advertisement is for a specific location, shortlisted applicants may be considered for similar roles elsewhere.
