Health & Social Care Teacher

Location: Witham, Essex
Contract Type: Full‑time, Permanent (or Fixed‑term considered)
Start Date: Immediate Start (or as soon as available)
Salary: £30,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience, plus TLR or additional payments where applicable)

The Role
  • Plan, prepare, deliver and assess lessons in Health & Social Care across Key Stages 3, 4 and (if applicable) Post‑16
  • Teach vocational qualifications (e.g. BTEC, OCR, NCFE) and/or relevant GCSE / A‑Level modules
  • Monitor student progress; intervene where necessary to support students to achieve their potential
  • Design engaging and real‑world learning activities including visits, guest speakers, work placements
  • Contribute to development of schemes of work, assessment strategies and subject resources
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments, support cross‑curricular links
  • Promote positive behaviour and inclusive practices; support the welfare and pastoral needs of students
  • Engage with parents, external agencies and stakeholders as required
Person Specification
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, or working towards QTS
  • Degree in Health & Social Care, Social Sciences, Nursing, or a closely related field
  • Experience (or strong interest) in teaching Health & Social Care / vocational qualifications
  • Strong subject knowledge and up‑to‑date awareness of practice in health and social care sectors
  • Excellent planning, classroom management and assessment skills
  • The ability to use a range of teaching strategies to engage learners of differing abilities
  • Good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting the well‑being of students
