Reporting to the Regional Health, Safety & Wellbeing Manager, the successful candidate will provide dedicated support to the Operational Management team in delivering health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, primarily across Scotland's South and West regions, but not limited to these areas.

We are looking for a confident and proactive individual with strong communication skills who can influence people and win hearts and minds when it comes to health and safety. The ideal candidate will work closely with operational management team to embed a positive safety culture, offering practical guidance and support to help us achieve our goal that everyone at Breedon goes Home Safe & Well. A self-motivated approach, a can-do attitude, and a passion for making a difference are essential.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the management and development of the Company's IMS and associated databases.
  • Regularly review and improve Management system procedures with operations and sustainability teams to enhance effectiveness and reduce costs.
  • Investigate all accidents, incidents, and occupational health cases in your area using root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures.
  • Liaise with engineers, managers, and contractors to ensure plant and equipment compliance with legal and company standards.
  • Act as the main contact for local or national health and safety regulatory bodies when needed.
  • Work with employees and contractors to ensure regulatory compliance and improve health and safety performance at all Breedon UK sites.
  • Ensure a consistent approach to health and safety management across all Company operations.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance in your area.
  • Promote and follow up on actions from audits and incidents.
  • Advise on compliance requirements for SHE outlined in the IMS and support industry bodies as directed.
  • Attend and advise safety, health, and wellbeing committees in your area of responsibility.
  • Support the embedding of sustainable practices on operational sites.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
The successful candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
  • NEBOSH certificate/diploma or equivalent H&S qualification
  • Good working knowledge of H&S legislation
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within the quarrying / construction materials sector
  • Working knowledge of ISO management systems
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Good communication and IT skills are essential
