The opportunity

As a Solar Storage and Private Wire (SSPW) Health & Safety Specialist, you will promote and manage the implementation of EDF Renewables UK & Ireland's Zero Harm ambitions across the SSPW portfolio, from development to operations and maintenance.

Your key focus will be applying the hierarchy of risk control measures to assets: during development phases through ‘safe by design’ principles, and during high-risk activities such as construction, operations, and maintenance. You will also learn from events and work with multiple contract partners to embed EDF values into projects.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Our passion for embracing new ideas and being open-minded helps us grow successfully. We’re committed to helping our people thrive, recognising and rewarding their dedication.

Alongside a competitive salary, bonus, and market-leading pension scheme, we offer a company vehicle, flexible benefits, and employee discounts. You can spend your flexible fund on benefits that matter to you, like an electric vehicle, private healthcare, or additional holiday.

We offer flexibility, freedom, and responsibility to make an impact, whether on-site, in the office, or hybrid working from home. We champion diversity and are a disability confident employer, ready to assist with your application and provide necessary adjustments.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will be part of a team of H&S Specialists, providing support, input, and advice throughout the product lifecycle, focusing on supporting business H&S needs. You will visit SSPW assets across the UK and Ireland, promoting a Zero Harm culture and building strong relationships with colleagues and contractors. The role is home-based with flexibility across all locations, ready to respond to business needs and emergencies.

  • Support the creation of a safety-first environment where individuals take ownership.
  • Implement EDF Renewables UK & Ireland H&S policies.
  • Support development of H&S management systems and procedures.
  • Represent EDF at H&S forums and events.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and legal H&S requirements in the UK & Ireland.
  • Set high H&S standards as a role model for continual improvement.
  • Assist in creating and deploying H&S procedures for SSPW.
  • Contribute to risk management and prevention plans.

What do you need to be great at this role?

  • Experience managing health and safety in developing projects and multi-site environments.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent, or willing to work towards.
  • Engineering or construction experience is desirable.
  • Experience with high voltage equipment and switching is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft systems.
  • Willing to be onsite 2-3 days per week with occasional overnight stays.
  • Ambitious to grow your career.

Location: Home-based, visiting sites across the middle and south regions of England, covering Devon, Cornwall, Reading, Norfolk, Ipswich, and Hastings. Travel approximately 2-3 days per week. A company vehicle is included.
