Job description

Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join us as a Health & Safety Professional. In this role, you will work proactively with departmental process owners to develop concise, compliant processes aligned with legislative and group requirements, aiming to deliver industry best practices. You will provide specialist health, safety, and environmental support through team meetings, project meetings, site visits, inspections, audits, and other relevant forums.

You will identify strategies to improve communication, compliance, and performance in achieving key HSE business objectives, utilizing internal and external data to produce management information for review and action by the management team, promoting best practices.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Provide cost-effective specialist health, safety, and environmental support and advice to tendering and project delivery teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Obtain and maintain ISO certification for the UK Transformer Business Unit, including Achilles accreditation.
  • Support the development of processes aligned with legislation, group standards, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental performance improvement strategies and campaigns aligned with business objectives and targets, including supply chain partners.
  • Produce monthly HSE KPIs and management information for review and action.
  • Visit sites regularly, especially during critical activities, to ensure compliance across the UK.
  • Coordinate third-party supplier audits with the Business Unit Manager and ensure timely execution.
Your background:
  • Proven experience as an HSE professional with project/construction experience.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Construction level in HSE Management.
  • Familiar with relevant ISO standards.
  • Industry knowledge or experience with High Voltage Power Systems.
  • Experience in managing business management systems.
  • Aiming to be a member of a relevant professional body.
