HEALTH & SAFETY - NEBOSH Officer, Advisor, Co-Ordinator, Assistant, Manager
One of the UK's leading providers of industrial forecourt equipment is seeking a candidate with suitable experience and NEBOSH qualification to join their Health & Safety team.
Job Purpose: Responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing the company's employee safety at work programme, helping to drive and maintain a safety-first culture across all levels. Ensuring the company adheres to all Health and Safety Legislation and guidelines by coordinating and driving health and safety activities. Collaborating and obtaining buy-in from all levels when producing or amending all company health and safety documentation by building and maintaining key relationships at senior levels.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and improve the Health and Safety System, create reports, and assign corrective actions ensuring the information is up-to-date and compliant.
- Update and maintain the corrective action log, analyze, and report on any trends in non-conformities.
- Compile and review the risk assessment database; follow up with site managers as needed.
- Carry out inductions and onboard new employees and workers onto the training system and safe systems of working, ensuring records are kept and maintained.
- Administer and maintain the company hazard reporting system, follow up corrective actions, and analyze and report on any trends in non-conformities.
- Organize, attend, and minute all Health and Safety Committee Meetings.
- Conduct regular site safety walkarounds and inspections, involving line managers and sharing findings with relevant Departmental Managers.
- Manage the availability of Safety PPE stocks, create POs, liaising with suppliers/contractors.
- Ensure actions from all H&S audits, internal and external, are completed and actioned.
- Maintain all third-party accreditations and certifications, including BS EN ISO 14001, BS EN ISO 45001, and BS EN ISO 50001.
- Build relationships with management across the organization to become a trusted and respected business partner.
- Work with support from a Mentor to prepare, develop, and advise management on safety strategies and any changes.
- Manage staff DSE Assessments, ensuring timely completion, review, and implementation of control measures.
- Collaborate with External Health and Safety Consultants to support safe operational procedures.
- Manage and coordinate online e-learning with HR.
- Arrange training courses as per procedures and conduct health and safety inductions for new starters.
- Maintain records of inspections, risk assessments, safety analysis sheets, training, and all related documentation.
- Maintain and update records of incidents and accidents, produce statistics, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Prepare regular reports for the board on key H&S aspects of the business.
- Prequalify subcontractors and suppliers, maintaining a matrix.
- Undertake weekly fire safety checks, maintain registers, coordinate annual fire evacuations, and record outcomes.
- Maintain accreditation memberships such as CHAS, Safe Contractor, Altius, Alcumas, Avetta, Builders Profile, and other portals.
- Complete client prequalification questionnaires.
- Coordinate and maintain a register of PPM/statutory inspections and calibrations.
