Reporting to the Business Health & Safety Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to develop a career with a leading Irish organisation, focusing on engaging and enhancing health and safety practices to protect our people and those affected by our activities.
Responsibilities
- Implement, improve, and enhance the site's safety management system.
- Support, advise, and provide technical expertise to managers to ensure legislative compliance and improve health and safety standards.
- Conduct and attend regular meetings with managers and supervisors.
- Assist managers in performing risk assessments and implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements.
- Support and implement Arrabawn's leading indicator programme, including reporting good saves, safety audits, inspections, and safety conversations.
- Ensure all accidents and near misses are fully reported and investigated.
- Review, develop, and implement health and safety procedures, policies, work instructions, checklists, and other documentation.
- Identify training needs and assist in managing training records.
- Assist in designing training plans and courses, and deliver health and safety inductions and other training as required.
- Liaise with external consultants.
- Coach employees on positive health & safety practices.
- Conduct emergency plans and fire drills.
- Support the Contractor Management System.
- Assist in preparing health and safety reports for the business.
- Monitor and update health & safety metrics.
- Attend monthly safety committee meetings and record minutes.
- Coordinate and order health & safety materials, including signage, PPE, first aid supplies, and spill kits.
- Perform other duties as required in line with business needs.
Key Experience, Competencies, and Qualifications
- Relevant third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Experience in a manufacturing/food production environment is desirable.
- Thorough knowledge of current health and safety legislation.
- Flexibility in working patterns as needed.
- Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with online management systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly organized, motivated, and driven.
- Trainer qualifications such as 'Train the Trainer', Manual Handling, or other instructor certifications are desirable but not essential.
