Health and Safety Officer
Thetford
Salary £35,000 per annum

Are you looking for your next step in your Health and Safety career? If so, this could be the opportunity you have been waiting for.

In this role, you will continuously develop Health, Safety and Environment best practice, ensuring the Company complies with current HSE legislation, approved codes of practice, and guidance in relation to employment and service provision.

Previous experience of working on a COMAH registered site is highly desirable.

Role & Accountabilities:
  1. Support the completion of COMAH safety reports and other competent authority submissions and to monitor any changes.
  2. Support DSEAR regulations and ensure that the site is compliant at all times with the current legislation and regulations.
  3. Understand, learn and implement COMAH and SERVESO regulations.
  4. Support COMAH upper tier compliance across the site.
  5. Undertake and review risk assessments, safe systems of work and COSHH assessments as required.
Skills and Experience:
  1. Motivated, reliable and results-oriented with a positive, can-do approach.
  2. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance and takes responsibility for their role and is accountable for their actions.
  3. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with staff and senior management alike.
  4. Good communicator, able to explain complex legislation to a wide audience.
  5. Previous experience in a COMAH registered manufacturing site would be preferred.
Role Specific Skills:
  1. NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 3 years proven Health & Safety experience.
  3. Excellent understanding of all relevant Health & Safety law and associated regulations.
  4. Experience of auditing systems and processes and assessing audit actions.
  5. The ability to handle responsibility and keep calm under pressure.
