Job description

Astute's Power Team is partnering with one of the UK's largest Waste Management Companies. They are building a new Energy from Waste Power Station in Cheshire, which, when completed, will be capable of processing 600,000 tonnes of waste per year—enough energy to power 125,000 homes.

The Health & Safety Manager is an integral role on site, responsible for shaping & maintaining the safety culture by ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and promoting a proactive approach to health, safety, and wellbeing.

Responsibilities and duties of the Health and Safety Manager role:
  1. Reporting to the Plant Manager, responsible for managing the site's Health & Safety communications.
  2. Developing and managing the risk assessment / accident reporting system.
  3. Liaising with external bodies.
  4. Monitoring the performance of the plant's health & safety program and identifying opportunities to increase effectiveness.
  5. Carrying out on-site audits and investigations.
  6. Developing a strong H&S culture.
  7. Managing and updating the site's H&S systems.
  8. Coordinating emergency response training.
  9. Providing H&S training for O&M staff.
