Job description

Health & Safety Manager
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 a year
Location: Stoke-On-Trent
Hours per week: 35
Contract type: Permanent

We’re looking for a Health and Safety Manager to join our Property Team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our Group’s statutory health and safety obligations are met and that our business complies with health and safety regulations.

Job requirements
  1. Ensure all regulatory H&S requirements are met.
  2. Achieve all H&S targets and service level agreements.
  3. Maintain a robust health and safety management system to ensure effective health, safety, and compliance with regulations.
  4. Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, building regulations, British Standards, and sector best practices.
  5. Consider, risk assess, and incorporate implications of future regulations and legislation changes to improve and update the Group’s H&S approach.
  6. Support the Property Team Management in meeting regulatory and legislative responsibilities for fire, gas, asbestos, electrical, water hygiene, and lift safety.
  7. Develop and produce regular assurance reports on H&S performance.
  8. Promote positive working relationships and a team approach, adhering to the Honeycomb Group ‘Leadership Compact’ for H&S Management.
What we’re looking for:
  1. Educated to degree level or qualified through substantial H&S experience.
  2. Relevant professional qualification in H&S Management (e.g., NEBOSH GC/Diploma, NCRQ, or equivalent).
  3. Experience leading and managing H&S in social housing or similar settings.
  4. Strong understanding of statutory health and safety compliance, including fire safety, asbestos risk management, HHSRS, and lone working.
  5. Ability to challenge unsafe practices and ensure compliance.
  6. Up-to-date knowledge of legislation, best practices, and statutory guidance.
  7. Accountable lead for all health and safety matters within the Group.
  8. Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  9. Supportive of a culture of continuous improvement.
  10. Inspirational leadership skills to develop, coach, motivate, and train teams in H&S management.
