About The Role

The Lanes Group are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our growing depot network division. You will lead the regional HSEQ team to provide Health and Safety functional support to the South West Region.

Location: South West Region

Hours: 37.5 Hours per week – Monday - Friday

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 per annum

Responsibilities – But Not Limited To

  • Keep up to date with Health and Safety legislation, good practices, ACOPS and changes to ensure compliance and maintain industry standards.
  • Provide consistent, accurate and technical advice to field based teams, supervisors and regional managers.
  • Be a point of contact for the Group HSEQ&T function.
  • Lead Accident investigations by supporting regional managers.
  • Produce TBT’s and ensure business compliance.
  • Conduct internal audits and prepare teams for external audits.
  • Complete Site Safety Inspections
  • Participate in regional teams Safety Stand downs and H&S committee meetings.
  • Maintain expert coverage in the absence of the Head of Safety
  • Liaising with partners to ensure safety standards across the contract.
  • Promote a positive safety culture throughout the business.
  • Maintain Environmental standards in line with business policies and regulatory standards. Investigate environmental incidents and introduce preventative measures.
  • Challenge senior leaders where needed to maintain Health and Safety standards.

Experience And Qualifications Required For The Role

  • Nebosh Diploma, NVQ or NCRQ certificate is required.
  • GradIOSH working towards CMIOSH - desirable but not essential
  • Member of professional body such as IIRSM or IOSH -desirable but not essential
  • Experience in utilities including water, wastewater, gas and electrical (desirable) or transferable industry.
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar type of role
  • Attention to detail.
  • Able to work on your own and as part of a wider team.
  • Be able to prioritise workload.
  • Self-motivated target driven.
  • Good computer skills and working on various software packages.
  • Good communication skills both internal and external lines of communication
  • Able to be field based and travel to different sites daily (Driving Licence essential)
  • Positive approach to safety and resilient to challenges.
  • Able to build relations quickly and positively influence others to take a safe approach.
  • Proactive in identifying required safety interventions.
