Cole & Yates Recruitment in Maidenhead is seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Manager to drive SHSEQ across landscaping and building projects from tender to handover.

You will lead RAMS, audits, and training, advise on CDM 2015, ISO standards, and contractor competence, and mentor an HSE Apprentice while supporting travel across London and the South.

Hybrid role with one day a week in the Maidenhead office and a competitive salary plus 25 days holiday.

Qualifications

• Operational Health & Safety experience in landscaping or construction.
• Knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation including CDM 2015.
• Experience with ISO audits and management systems.
• Experience coaching or mentoring HSEQ staff and apprentices.

Responsabilités

• Provide SHSEQ advice to Directors, Managers and Project Teams.
• Review, maintain and improve HSEQ policies, RAMS and the Integrated Management System.
• Carry out project and maintenance inspections and audits, investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Advise on CDM 2015 duties, Principal Contractor arrangements and contractor competence.
• Support ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 audits, surveillance and non-conformity close-out.
• Maintain training, CPD records and deliver HSEQ training and communications.
• Line manage and develop a HSE Apprentice with mentoring and coaching.
• Travel regularly to project sites across London and the South of England; attend Maidenhead office weekly.

Cole & Yates Recruitment is working with an award-winning commercial landscape construction and maintenance contractor to recruit a Health & Safety Manager. The business delivers hard and soft landscaping schemes, maintenance services and specialist features across ground-level, podium and roof-terrace environments.

This is a practical, hands-on role within a company delivering projects across London and the South of England. You will provide Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality advice and support across the full project lifecycle, from tender and pre-construction through mobilisation, construction, handover and ongoing maintenance.

Provide practical SHSEQ advice to Directors, Managers, Employees, Contractors and Project Teams.

Review, maintain and improve HSEQ policies, procedures, RAMS, inspection systems and the Integrated Management System.

Carry out project and maintenance inspections and audits, investigate incidents and ensure corrective actions are completed.

Advise on CDM 2015 duties, Principal Contractor arrangements, contractor competence and project assurance.

Support ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, including audits, evidence, surveillance, recertification and non-conformity close-out.

Maintain environmental, sustainability and quality arrangements and administer Constructionline and other compliance portals.

Maintain training, competence and CPD records and deliver HSEQ training and communications.

Line manage and develop a HSE Apprentice, providing structured mentoring, coaching and supervised practical experience.

Raise non-conformities, require corrective action and stop any activity presenting an immediate or serious risk.

Essential requirementsOperational Health & Safety experience gained within landscaping or building construction, together with practical wider HSEQ experience.Good knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation, including CDM 2015 and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.Practical working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 within an Integrated Management System.Experience developing and critically reviewing RAMS, procedures and management-system documentation.Practical understanding of COSHH, PUWER, LOLER, working at height and other relevant construction legislation.Experience of inspections, audits, incident investigation, corrective actions, training and competence management.A relevant occupational Health & Safety qualification with evidence of continuing professional development.Experience coaching or mentoring less-experienced HSEQ colleagues or apprentices.A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to project sites across London and the South of England.Ability to attend the office near Maidenhead for a minimum of one day each week.Useful additional experienceCommercial landscaping or landscape-construction experience.External ISO audits, surveillance, recertification or Constructionline experience.Lead Auditor training or relevant professional membership.Appointed Person or Temporary Works Coordinator competence or experience.Sustainability, Building Safety Act, National Highway Sector Schemes or streetworks knowledge.
