Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) Manager to join our team as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on our Asylum Accommodation and Support Contracts (AASC), where we offer a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.

You will provide high quality, competent and specialist HS&E support to the site, delivering a service in accordance with our Service Level Agreement.

Working alongside other HS&E team members, you will provide regulatory guidance and functional leadership in the selected part of the business, supporting it to achieve performance improvements, leading industry sector best practice forums, enhancing our reputation, and ensuring HS&E compliance with Serco Group, Divisional, and regulatory requirements.

You will lead the design and implementation of a risk-based training schedule and HS&E Management Assurance plan, as well as deliver a robust reporting process for predictive assessment of potential health, safety, and environmental failures.

You will support the business as a whole, ensuring that our customers and those affected by our operations do so in a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible manner.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring compliance with HS&E policies, standards, and procedures.
• Supporting local operational staff in developing and maintaining HS&E controls.
• Liaising with customers and third-party organizations.
• Providing support for bid development and contract phase-in/out.
• Monitoring HS&E performance and reporting.
• Supporting incident investigations.
• Maintaining compliance documentation and coordinating audits.

Qualifications and experience required:

• Passion for Health & Safety, belonging to a professional organization like IOSH (graduate or chartered member preferred).
• Experience in regulated workplace environments and qualifications in Fire Risk Assessment/Management.
• CPD in progress or planned.
• Knowledge of management systems and HS&E requirements such as OHSAS/ISO.
• Excellent communication skills, ability to manage workload, and make decisions.
