Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Safety Advisor role with a leading utilities company based in Hampshire. If you are interested in exploring this role, please confirm, and I will arrange a briefing call at the earliest convenience.

Location: Hampshire

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 37 per week

Salary: Circa £50,000 - £55,000 DOE

About the Role:

This is a pivotal role focused on ensuring health and safety compliance across Operations and Facilities teams within the utilities sector. You will provide expert advice to ensure personnel and contractors operate safely and within legal and company standards.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Advising business areas on health and safety legislation and best practice
  • Managing hazard grading, risk assessments, and safe systems of work
  • Acting as the EcoOnline system superuser and trainer
  • Leading incident investigations and reporting on safety performance
  • Conducting inspections and assurance visits at high and medium risk sites
  • Coaching managers and staff to maintain health and safety competence
  • Providing technical advice on chemical storage, construction activities, and wellbeing
  • Supporting security and wellbeing initiatives
  • Participating in an on-call rota for serious health and safety incidents
About You:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health, safety, and wellbeing legislation and best practice
  • A passion to learn and develop in this field
  • Experience advising on health and safety in utilities, facilities, construction, or critical infrastructure environments
  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent
  • Cert IOSH minimum qualification
  • Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle
Desirable:
  • Experience with civil engineering construction projects and environmental awareness qualifications
Capabilities:
  • Strong communication and report writing skills
  • Ability to coach and mentor colleagues
  • Leadership and negotiation skills to promote safety culture
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Flexibility to work across the Hampshire region
