Job description

Zachary Daniels is partnering with a leading, high-growth UK business to recruit a Health & Safety Manager for a newly developed distribution centre in Suffolk.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major logistics operation at a pivotal point in its growth journey. Now in its second year of operations, the site requires a confident and experienced Health & Safety leader to embed and evolve established practices while driving continuous improvement across health, safety and facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Health, Safety and Facilities agenda across a large-scale distribution centre
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with statutory legislation, regulations, and internal standards
  • Drive a proactive safety culture through effective policies, training, and daily routines
  • Maintain and develop robust systems for Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work, ensuring reviews are conducted and signed off bi-annually
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, complete timely RIDDOR reporting, and ensure learnings are embedded
  • Oversee internal audits and support external inspections as the site's HSE lead
  • Develop and maintain a Health, Safety and Environmental improvement plan with clear, deliverable objectives
  • Manage facilities contractors and ensure all statutory inspections are completed

What We're Looking For

  • NEBOSH Diploma (Part 1) or NVQ Level 4 in Health & Safety (or equivalent)
  • Strong working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation
  • Experience in a warehousing, logistics, or industrial environment
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint - especially during the start-up phase
  • Confident, approachable and collaborative communicator with excellent influencing skills
  • Solid understanding of facilities and contractor management
