Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Occupational Health & Safety Manager to oversee health and safety across three college campuses (Aylesbury, High Wycombe and Amersham).

The role is predominantly site-based, full-time (37 hours) with travel between campuses and a strong emphasis on risk assessment, audits and safe systems of work.

Qualifications

• Experience in health and safety, HSE, construction, engineering, estates or facilities management.
• NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate (ideally completed; candidates studying towards it may be considered).
• Knowledge of risk assessments, auditing and safe systems of work.
• Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and practical risk management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
• Happy to travel between all three campuses and work predominantly on site.
• Interested in developing their career, with potential to progress into wider estates management.

Joining the Estates and Health & Safety team, you'll work closely with the Head of Estates and Health & Safety, alongside the Campus Managers, playing a key role in maintaining safe working environments for students and staff. In this role, you will provide health and safety advice and guidance across the college, undertaking risk assessments, audits and inspections while helping departments implement safe systems of work. You'll work with staff across a variety of environments, including higher-risk areas such as construction workshops, ensuring health and safety legislation is applied effectively. You'll also help identify potential hazards, support risk management and promote a positive health and safety culture across all three campuses.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation, alongside experience in risk assessments, auditing and safe systems of work. A NEBOSH Level 3 General Certificate is essential and any further qualification will be beneficial. You'll be a confident communicator who can build relationships, provide practical advice and work collaboratively with colleagues rather than taking an overly prescriptive approach. Experience within education is not essential, making this an excellent opportunity for candidates from construction, engineering, facilities or other relevant industries.
