Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join the Resources directorate in Stevenage on a hybrid basis. The role delivers proactive assurance, audits and incident investigations across council departments, schools and partner organisations.

The successful candidate will hold NEBOSH qualifications (Certificate minimum, Diploma preferred), strong advisory and reporting skills, and a full UK driving licence. Starting salary £39,481 with progression to £43,149 per annum.

Qualifications

• Minimum NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or equivalent.
• Ideal: NEBOSH Diploma or IOSH membership or equivalent.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Proven experience delivering health and safety advice and training.

Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with H&S legislation and HCC policy via audits and inspections.
• Provide health and safety advice to managers, staff and partner organisations.
• Develop and deliver health and safety training and support Co-ordinators.
• Monitor incident statistics, identify trends and assist investigations/debriefs.
• Contribute to the development and review of H&S guidance and procedures.
