Health & Safety Lead - Contractor Management

Location: Surrey (site-based; 5 days per week)

Salary: Up to £60,000

Irwin and Colton are pleased to have been engaged by an industry-leading FM organisation that is looking to appoint a new Health and Safety professional to lead contractor management systems across a major site in Surrey. The role involves overseeing the Contractor Management office, ensuring safe working conditions, accurate documentation and Permits to Work, and compliance with safe systems of work across the site, while managing a team of two safety professionals.

Responsibilities of the Health & Safety Lead include:

• Engaging with key stakeholders to improve health and safety culture among subcontractors
• Collaborating with subcontractors and internal procurement teams to ensure high standards of supplier performance and site safety, and developing safety management systems aligned with best practices
• Analyzing risks in the critical working environment and implementing measures to mitigate them
• Ensuring contractors on-site comply with relevant legislation and company policies

Requirements for the Health & Safety Lead role:

• NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and membership of a relevant professional body
• Proven experience in the built environment, preferably from facilities management (Hard FM) or industrial M&E sectors
• Experience influencing, engaging, and liaising with subcontractors to foster safety and compliance culture
• Strong understanding of ISO systems (ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001)
• Experience with confined spaces, working at height, or excavations is advantageous

Note: DBS clearance will be required for this role.
