Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced health & safety professional to work at Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust as the Health, Safety & Fire Manager. This post reports directly to the Head of Capital Projects & Estates and will provide strategic and operational advice and support regarding national legislation, regulations, and standards relating to buildings and healthcare.

The post holder is required to have experience in this area to support in an advisory capacity and be able to demonstrate their capability in working within a healthcare organization. This includes delivering training and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and fire legislation and guidance. The post holder will act as the Trust's nominated competent person responsible for overseeing all fire safety systems.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, authentic leader who is passionate about implementing learning to ensure safe systems of work and environments for staff, patients, visitors, and contractors. They must be a highly effective communicator, able to work within tight timeframes, and possess exceptional organizational skills. Flexibility and teamwork are essential qualities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide competent specialist advice, guidance, and support to managers and staff regarding fire, health and safety, and estates responsibilities.
  2. Assist managers in developing safe systems of work to ensure legislative compliance.
  3. Determine implications of fire and health and safety legislation and develop policies tailored to the organization’s needs.
  4. Support the Head of Capital Projects and Estates in ensuring the safety and suitability of Trust premises.
