About the role

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as the Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Managing company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance, such as HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade bodies.
• Investigating incidents and accidents with trained colleagues, escalating as necessary, and liaising with emergency services and media when appropriate.

About you

• Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification

• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with ability to influence senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
