About the role

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as Subject Matter Expert for health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture at Smiths News, including road transport and operational yard safety at all locations.
• Owning company health and safety policies, training programs, and audit regimes, ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place and managed effectively.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as the HSE, DVSA, local authorities, and trade associations.
• Investigating incidents and accidents with trained colleagues, escalating issues as needed, and liaising with emergency services and media when appropriate.

About you

• At least Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk management qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
