Job Description:

About the role

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO-certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including all road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning company health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable arrangements are in place and managed effectively.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to foster positive behaviors and a just safety culture.
• Building positive relationships and maintaining dialogue with internal and external stakeholders interested in safe and legal operations (e.g., HSE, DVSA, Local Authorities, Trade Bodies).
• Ensuring incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with appropriate escalation and external stakeholder liaison when necessary.

• Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification

• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with senior negotiation and influence abilities
• Valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
