Job Description:

• Responsible for delivering the health, safety, and environmental risk strategy as set by the Head of Safety & Risk.
• Implementing ISO certified safety and environmental management systems.
• Acting as Subject Matter Expert for Smiths News on health and safety, environmental risk, and safety culture, including road transport and operational yard safety at Smiths News and third-party locations.
• Owning the company's health and safety policies, training, and audit regimes, ensuring suitable and sufficient arrangements are in place and properly managed.
• Delivering Human Factors and Safety Culture Awareness programs to promote positive behaviors and embed a just safety culture.
• Maintaining positive relationships and dialogue with internal and external stakeholders interested in safety and legal compliance (e.g., HSE, DVSA, local authorities, trade associations).
• Ensuring incidents and accidents are fully investigated by trained colleagues, with appropriate escalation and external stakeholder liaison when necessary.

About you:

• Nebosh Level 3 or equivalent qualification
• Experience with ISO 45001 and integrated systems
• Auditing qualifications and experience
• Environmental risk management qualifications
• Extensive accident investigation experience, including root cause analysis
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to negotiate and influence at senior levels
• A valid UK driving license (company car may be provided)
