Health, Safety & Environment Manager

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week

Location: Bridgwater - TA6 6DF

We seek an experienced individual to develop, implement, and support site Health, Safety & Environment plans, aligning with company strategy and ensuring legal compliance.

Responsibilities:

• Support risk assessments and safe systems of work
• Maintain legal permits (e.g., Environmental permits)
• Conduct audits of statutory requirements
• Assist managers with accident and near-miss investigations
• Enhance colleagues' capabilities in HSE roles
• Challenge and coach staff on unsafe acts and procedures
• Promote a strong health and safety culture
• Engage with external authorities, insurers, and suppliers as needed
• Lead cross-functional HSE meetings
• Develop and implement HSE strategies and improvement plans
• Manage environmental and safety costs
• Support HSE projects and initiatives
• Oversee TACCP and BCP agendas for the site
• Monitor and report accident statistics and KPIs, driving improvements

Candidate Profile:

• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, with HSE management experience
• Member of IOSH
• Environmental qualification such as AIEMA
• Up-to-date with business performance and compliance
• Energetic, persistent, and proactive in change management
• Practical risk control skills
• Strong organizational, communication, and mentoring skills
• Leadership ability across functions
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• High attention to detail
