Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health, Safety and Environment Advisor on a permanent, full-time basis, which will require frequent travel to our projects based in and around London. The purpose of this role is to demonstrate the company's ongoing commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment, ensuring a safe workplace for all employees.

The role is suitable for someone eager to develop their career within a growing organization. The successful candidate will be actively involved in shaping the Health, Safety, and Environmental agenda with support from the Head of Health, Safety, and Environment.

We are looking for someone who is bright, enthusiastic, and ready for a challenge. You will report directly to the Head of Health, Safety, and Environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Participate in developing and reviewing the Health, Safety, and Environment strategies and policies.
  • Monitor and analyze safety statistics, identify trends, and report findings, recommending improvements.
  • Deliver behavioral safety training to staff.
  • Present quarterly updates on health, safety, and environment to staff.
  • Contribute to the quarterly newsletter with relevant updates.
  • Engage in focus groups to identify areas for development and best practices.
  • Ensure ISO standards (BS EN ISO14001:2015 and BS EN ISO 45001:2018) are maintained.
  • Maintain Achilles/NSAI standards and compliance with OHS legislation.
  • Interpret and ensure adherence to HSE regulations across the company.
  • Implement initiatives to differentiate Designer Group in HSE performance.
  • Optimize and audit systems related to construction regulations, contractor management, and permits to work.
  • Advise management and site teams on safe use of plant and equipment.
  • Conduct workplace inspections and management audits.
  • Lead by example in all duties.
  • Encourage engagement with all stakeholders.
  • Investigate incidents to ensure lessons are shared and systems improved.
  • Act decisively on breaches of HSE policies.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and assist with site-specific HSE documentation.
  • Contribute to new site setups with appropriate HSE input.
  • Prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments for projects and offices.
  • Participate in audits to ensure statutory and best practice compliance.
  • Advise on training needs for staff at all levels.
