Job Purpose

To coordinate and support the implementation of health and safety policies, procedures and initiatives across the organisation. The Health and Safety Coordinator helps ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards, maintains accurate safety records, supports workplace inspections and risk assessments, and promotes a positive health and safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate health and safety activities, inspections and audits across the workplace.
• Assist with preparing, reviewing and maintaining risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies and procedures.
• Organise health and safety inductions, training sessions and toolbox talks.
• Record and report accidents, incidents and near misses, supporting investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain health and safety documentation, training records, inspection reports and incident logs.
• Monitor corrective and preventive actions to ensure timely completion.
• Support fire safety arrangements, emergency procedures and evacuation drills.
• Assist with contractor management and ensure relevant safety documentation is available.
• Promote the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe working practices.
• Communicate health and safety updates and guidance to employees and managers.
• Support environmental and workplace improvement initiatives where required.
• Liaise with managers, employees, contractors and external authorities on health and safety matters.
• Must be flexible and willing to cover night shifts when required.

Qualifications And Experience

• IOSH qualification or equivalent is desirable.
• Previous experience or knowledge in health and safety, compliance or coordination role is advantageous.
• Basic knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and workplace risk management.
• Experience maintaining documentation, coordinating training and supporting audits.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and other relevant systems.
