Job description

Health, Safety and Sustainability Advisor, Workington

Overview: As the Health, Safety & Sustainability Advisor, you will play a critical role in minimising risk exposure and driving a proactive safety culture. You will work closely with the Facilities Manager to enhance Health, Safety, and Environmental awareness, and apply your expertise to develop and implement a comprehensive H&S framework that adheres to regulatory standards.

Key Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A-C), including Maths and English.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a Health & Safety environment.

Salary: £29,000 - £34,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay current with Health & Safety standards, relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the team to deliver practical, proactive H&S solutions tailored to customer needs.
  • Support management in reviewing and enhancing procedural and operational practices.
  • Monitor the risk register and ensure timely action is taken to minimise significant risks.
  • Conduct or assist with incident investigations, documenting findings and lessons learned.
  • Analyse and record incident notifications, maintain a tracker, and compile HSE performance data; report any incidents under RIDDOR to HSE.
  • Provide guidance on safety and security for trips, visits, and high-risk activities.
  • Ensure the Emergency Preparedness Procedure is well understood by all staff, and oversee the coordination of Incident Response Team capabilities and emergency drills.
  • Support well-being and occupational health initiatives in partnership with HR.
  • Engage in sustainability initiatives to contribute to broader organisational goals.
