Job description

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Health & Safety / HSE Specialist with a manufacturing background to join our multinational company based in West Yorkshire.

The HSE Manager will focus on maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing various aspects of EHS, including health and safety, wellbeing, legislative compliance, environmental management, fire and security, risk management, and auditing.

Key Responsibilities: As the HSE Manager, your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Health and Safety:
  • Promote a culture of health and safety awareness through effective communication, employee engagement, and targeted programs.
  • Ensure plant management understands the linkages between on-the-job and off-the-job safety, occupational and non-occupational health, and related costs.
  • Develop and recommend policies to foster a safe work environment.
  • Educate employees on ergonomic practices and evaluate workplace ergonomics needs.
  • Identify and manage environmental risks to protect workforce wellbeing.
  • Coordinate incident investigations.
  • Conduct health and safety inductions for new employees.
  • Wellbeing:
    • Develop programs to reduce accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
    • Work with HR to create wellness initiatives tailored to the plant's needs.
    • Manage the gym facility, including inductions and operations.
  • Legislative Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations through training programs on safety, hygiene, emergency procedures, hazardous materials, COSHH, etc.
  • Environmental:
    • Oversee environmental regulation compliance.
    • Implement waste management, minimization, and recycling practices at all production stages.
  • Plant Awareness:
    • Follow policies related to Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment.
    • Promote understanding and awareness of these policies across the plant.
  • Reporting:
    • Manage KPIs, develop control measures, and action plans.
    • Prepare reports and analyses for various levels.
    • Lead safety meetings with representatives.
    • Report on health, safety, environmental compliance, and energy use.
  • Auditing:
    • Plan and manage internal audits per ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
    • Coordinate external audits and address improvement areas.
