Job summary

Assured Safety is partnering with a major European manufacturing group to appoint an HSE Manager at a fast-moving FMCG site in Manchester. You will own the site HSE strategy, drive safety culture, ensure legal compliance and collaborate with the European HSE network.

The role offers £65,000 salary plus excellent benefits and genuine autonomy to shape the HSE agenda at site level.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification).
• Proven experience as HSE or Health & Safety Manager in FMCG/manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Experience implementing and improving HSE management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site's Health, Safety and Environmental agenda.
• Drive a proactive behavioural safety culture across all departments.
• Ensure compliance with UK legislation.
• Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures and management systems.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Manage audits, inspections and regulatory interactions.
• Deliver HSE training and coaching for managers.
• Monitor HSE KPIs and report to senior leadership.
• Support capital projects from an HSE perspective.
• Collaborate with European group to share best practice.

The Role

As HSE Manager, you'll take ownership of the site's Health, Safety and Environmental strategy, ensuring legal compliance while creating a culture where safety is at the heart of everything the business does.

Working closely with the Site Leadership Team and the wider European HSE network, you'll lead initiatives that improve performance, reduce risk and support operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading the site's Health, Safety and Environmental agenda.

Experience & Qualifications

We're looking for an experienced HSE professional who has operated within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

You’ll ideally have:

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification).
• Proven experience as an HSE or Health & Safety Manager within FMCG, food manufacturing, packaging or another fast‑moving manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Experience implementing and improving HSE management systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• A proactive, hands‑on approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
