Job Description:

Working closely with the QHSE Director and the Quality Manager, the HSE Manager will lead a team of HS&E Technical Experts and be responsible for the management, maintenance, and effective deployment of health, safety, and environmental systems within our Service Operations department, covering the UK, Europe, and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental management system, standards, and procedures in collaboration with the QHSE Director.
  • Ensure all colleagues are aware of the HS&E strategy and are provided with appropriate training and information.
  • Review and ensure the HS&E management system conforms to relevant standards.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Manager to audit the HS&E management system and report on areas for improvement.
  • Include HS&E hazards in the Corporate Risk Register and establish controls to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation and records, revising them as necessary.
  • Conduct inspections and audits, identify corrective measures, and oversee their implementation.
  • Investigate HS&E incidents and near misses, and ensure preventive actions are taken.
  • Maintain incident records and analyze trends for continuous improvement.
  • Manage environmental and energy records to support carbon footprint reduction efforts.
  • Assist the QHSE Director in legal reporting and information requests.
  • Provide proactive advice and support to business operations and facilities management.
  • Lead and manage the HS&E team to support operational delivery.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Experience in health, safety, environmental, and risk management, preferably in engineering or construction environments.
  • International exposure and experience in security and medical management are advantageous but not required.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and develop process efficiencies.
  • Knowledge of developing HSE systems and documentation such as QMS Action Plans and HSE management plans.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of motivating others.
  • Pragmatic approach and ability to work collaboratively in a fluid environment.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver engaging training programs.
  • Excellent collaboration skills across different functions and levels.
  • Working knowledge of ISO standards and internal auditor qualifications.
  • Possession of a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent and membership or active pursuit of IOSH membership.
