Join Our Team and Make a Real Impact on Major Infrastructure Projects

Are you a Health, Safety & Environmental professional looking for a new challenge in the water sector? We're seeking a passionate and proactive Health, Safety and Environmental Adviser to join our expanding ESH&S team in Southern England. This role supports our growing portfolio of projects with Southern Water and offers the opportunity to be part of an exciting cultural development programme.


You will work across joint venture project teams, providing hands-on support and strategic advice to ensure our high standards in health, safety, and environmental management are met and continuously improved.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Supporting the development and implementation of ESH&S management systems across Southern and United Utilities regions.
  • Conducting inspections, audits, and joint site visits with clients and supply chain partners.
  • Monitoring compliance and contributing to performance reporting and KPIs.
  • Preparing monthly reports and compiling client-specific HSE documentation.
  • Assessing supplier and subcontractor competencies.
  • Reviewing risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work.
  • Leading and supporting incident investigations.
  • Representing the ESH&S team in client meetings and preparing reports and presentations.
  • Delivering toolbox talks, training sessions, and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of HSE processes and documentation.
  • Hosting external auditors when required.
What We're Looking For:
  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate
  • Environmental qualification or demonstrable environmental experience
  • Strong knowledge of current HSE legislation and best practices
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Confident presenter with the ability to engage all levels of the organisation
  • Team player with a professional and approachable manner
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel/stay overnight as needed
  • Physically able to access sites (work at height, confined spaces, ladders)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HSE-related systems
Nice to Have:
  • GradIOSH or working towards CMIOSH
  • Previous experience in the water/utilities sector
  • Experience with Joint Ventures or complex infrastructure projects
