Job summary

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking an intern/early-career professional focused on Health, Safety and Environment. You will work within a small team spanning all areas, champion HSE projects, and support data collation central to project delivery and company objectives.

You will explore ISO/legislation requirements, attend safety meetings, and may gain NEBOSH Certification after probation, with employee benefits including a pension, onsite gym, 36 days

Qualifications

• 2:1 or higher in Engineering/Industrial Systems/Manufacturing/Geography with modules in Quality, Health & Safety & Environmental
• Strong interest in Health, Safety and Environmental topics and data handling

Responsibilities

• Support HSE resources and activities, including risk assessments, training delivery, audits and inspections
• Coordinate and deliver working procedures and safety communications
• Assist Senior Management with data collation for project delivery and company objectives
• Contribute to practical safety improvements and problem-solving within deadlines
• Engage with multiple departments to share knowledge and mentor others

• You will support your colleagues at HPP by co-ordinating various key HSE resources and activities including conducting risk assessments, coordinating & delivering training, carrying out audits & inspections, writing & reviewing working procedures.

What development can you expect?

As a team we pride ourselves on sharing knowledge and developing our interns supported by our mentoring program. You will have exposure to all departments and areas within the business. You will be expected to troubleshoot, propose and deliver appropriate, value added and safe solutions within demanding deadlines. You will be asked to familiarise yourself with legislation and the ISO standards to which the Company is registered, ensuring our compliance, and attend and contribute appropriately to safety meetings, both within the Company and those held with Safety Professionals from the UK based F1 Teams. On successful completion of your probationary period, you will be able to gain a NEBOSH Certification in Occupational Health & Safety.

What are we looking for?

• A proven academic record with expected 2:1 or above in a relevant degree, for example, Engineering/ Industrial Systems/ Manufacturing/Geography, ensuring inclusion of Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental modules or alternatively you have a strong occupational health / risk or industrial environment background through a social sciences degree
• You will have a collaborative style, which will enable you to effectively challenge convention, offering solutions that are resourceful and appropriate.
• You will have an innate curiosity to learn and discover and not be afraid to constructively challenge established practices with a view to delivering high performance.
• You pride yourself on the projects you deliver, ensuring that every detail is considered and presented in a methodical, conscientious and professional manner.
