Overview

Blackpool Zoo is part of Parques Reunidos, one of the leading leisure park global operators, with more than 60 different assets (theme parks, zoos and marine parks, water parks and other attractions) across Europe, North America, the Middle East and Australia. We are seeking a Health, Safety and Environment Co-ordinator to join our team to support both Blackpool Zoo and the Lakes Aquarium.

Role Type: Permanent

Salary: £30,000

This role is ideal for someone with existing health and safety knowledge who’s looking to take the next step in their career. You’ll work with our HSE Manager and operational teams to maintain high standards, build a positive safety culture, and protect the wellbeing of our people, visitors and animals.

Responsibilities
  • Act as a point of contact for health and safety matters
  • Deliver training and inductions for new and existing employees
  • Lead and support investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses
  • Maintain accurate records, compliance registers, and corrective action plans
  • Conduct scheduled risk assessments, inspections, and audits
  • Coordinate safety initiatives across departments and locations
  • Communicate safety information, reports and findings
  • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and maintenance teams
  • Support audit process
  • Carry out documented periodic safety inspections and manage routine safety systems including Fire, PPE stock checks and permit-to-work procedures
  • Standardise documentation and reporting across sites
  • Monitor and maintain a safe working environment
  • Act as a fire warden
  • Assist with the development of health and safety policies and procedures
  • Assist in the development of relevant emergency plans and provide assistance in the event of a safety emergency
  • Assist the health and safety manager in any health and safety meetings as required
  • Assist in the development of emergency plans
  • Liaise with other teams to understand special risks and ensure suitable control measures are in place
  • Organise inspections, monitor that required assessments (e.g., DSE) are carried out by appropriate staff in a timely manner
  • Ensure first aid facilities are provided and maintained
  • Ensure that training delivered locally is appropriately recorded
  • Assist with monitoring and managing site waste
  • Assist with compiling information and completing non-financial reporting
  • Assist with the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures
