Adecco Recruitment are currently recruiting for on behalf of our client, a Health & Safety Advisor / Administrator to work for a successful manufacturing company based in the outskirts of Lancaster.

Permanent/12 month fixed term contract

Salary £25-35K per annum

Full time Mon - Thursday 8am - 4.30pm/ Friday 8am-13.30pm

33 days holiday a year - (25 plus 8 bank holidays )

By Agreement - Flexible working - core hours Mon- Thurs 9.30 - 3.30 Friday 9.00- 12.00

Location: Lancaster area

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the EH&S Manager, this role will provide support and advice the operational teams, supervisors and managers on relevant Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems that ensure the company's responsibilities are legally compliant, clear, concise and fully maintained.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

* Ensuring that there is timely and consistent advice, support, coaching and governance of Saftety & Health standards and legislation to support all activities across the operational departments

* Support processes relating to Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste streams

* Promote employee awareness and engagement in the importance of following HSE protocols further promoting our commitment to a culture of safety excellence.

* Advise Angus Fire operational team leaders, supervisors & managers on all aspects of HSE.

* Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, to promote effective HSE working practices.

Conduct/organise relevant HSE training for staff as required, including risk assessment and environmental awareness.

* Support the on-site risk assessors to ensure risk assessments are completed and reviewed in line with legislative requirements and ensure maintain records maintained.

* Conduct & carryout internal and compliance audits on-site; report on findings and manage issue log through to completion.

* Co-ordinate and manage first aid and fire safety representatives for Bentham site.

* Recommend & implement control measures and on PPE issued to employees.

* To carry out and support on near miss, incidents and accident investigations and to record and communicate the findings.

* Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports and documents as required.

Skills , Knowledge & Experience

* NEBOSH Qualification

* Practical experience in a manufacturing environment

* Good knowledge of HSE legislation

* Ability to produce written reports in a clear and concise manner

* Experience implementing and revising HSE policies and procedures

* Proven experience in the delivery of advice and guidance to managers/supervisors

* Proven background of driving a safety culture

* Proven experience of using IT such as MS Office packages

* Formally trained to ISO auditing

* Good communication skills with the ability to liaise confidently both verbally and in writing

* Motivated, driven and hands on, wants to make a positive difference.

* Professional approach, and able to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements

* Good negotiation skills with ability to influence key stakeholders, motivate and empower staff to promote a positive HSE workplace

* Logical thinking and problem-solving ability

* Attention to detail with the ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately

* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise work effectively.

* Self-motivated and able to manage own workload independently.

* Computer literate to a high standard and skilled in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel
