Health & Safety Advisor

Location: Scotland
Job Type: Full–time, Permanent

Our client, a well–established and highly regarded Civil Engineering Main Contractor with an annual turnover exceeding GBP150 million, is seeking a motivated Health & Safety Advisor. This is a permanent position covering projects across Scotland, joining a growing team following recent project successes in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site safety inspections, report findings to stakeholders, and provide feedback to employees.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of work packs (RAMS, permit applications, COSHH assessments, etc.) training will be provided.
  • Identify, coordinate, and ensure the delivery, recording, and validation of required safety training.
  • Report injuries and dangerous occurrences to the Health & Safety Manager, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promote and enhance the company’s Health & Safety culture by offering guidance, support, and sharing best practices.
  • Advise company directors and management on Health & Safety matters, including updates to legislation.
  • Collaborate with contract management teams to integrate safety considerations into operational planning and risk assessments.
  • Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate
  • Membership of IOSH
  • Valid UK Driving Licence
  • CSCS Card at Health & Safety Technical, Supervisor, or Manager level
  • HNC/D or Degree in a construction–related discipline
  • Minimum of three years experience as a Health & Safety Advisor on civil engineering projects.
  • Experience working on power projects is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Up–to–date knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and industry best practices
  • Ability to produce and distribute relevant Health & Safety information
  • Experience in creating work packs as outlined in the key responsibilities
  • Knowledge of working with external authorities such as SEPA and Local Authorities
