Job description

We are seeking an H&S professional with a strong background in highways and civil engineering (including Highway Maintenance, Road Surfacing, Streetlighting, Road Marking, Traffic Management, Infrastructure, and Civil works) to support our HSE Team.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Providing H&S compliance advice to the business.
  • Undertaking H&S compliance audits, incident investigations, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Mentoring employees at all levels to ensure safe management systems and improve safety culture.
  • Reviewing risk assessments, compiling method statements & procedures, and managing conformity.
  • Carrying out incident investigations and maintaining related statistics.
  • Conducting compliance evaluations and maintaining the legal register.
  • Collaborating with contract managers and supervisors to ensure adherence to H&S policies and procedures.
  • Reporting on QHSE performance to the H&S Manager in coordination with the health and safety team.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
  • Ideally NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent; minimum NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Health and Safety Advisor/Manager in highways/civil engineering.
  • Good knowledge of CDM regulations and Temporary Works.
  • Experience in providing sound health and safety advice, drafting safe systems, and implementing controls on civil engineering sites.
  • Full UK driving license.
