Job summary

Principal People are recruiting two Health & Safety Advisors to support a major infrastructure framework across Yorkshire. You will provide practical HS&E support across projects, reviewing RAMS and Construction Phase Plans, and advise operational teams on risk control.

Based in Yorkshire with hybrid working (2–3 days on site, 1 office, 1 WFH), you’ll influence safety culture, lead incident investigations, and help drive continuous improvement on heavy civils, pipeline installation, and water

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate, or equivalent.
• Experience within a Tier 1 contractor environment is strongly preferred.
• Background within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, highways or a similar environment.
• A practical, proactive approach to health and safety with the ability to influence operations and drive improvement.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Providing practical HS&E support across infrastructure projects throughout Yorkshire and parts of Northumbria.
• Working closely with operational teams to identify risks, improve performance and promote a positive health and safety culture.
• Supporting projects involving pipeline installation, heavy civils, excavations, service avoidance and water main replacement.
• Conducting site inspections, audits and HS&E reviews across live projects.
• Reviewing RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and wider project documentation.
• Providing guidance on temporary works, excavations, service avoidance and plant interface activities.
• Supporting incident investigations, identifying lessons learned and driving continuous improvement.
• Building strong relationships with operational teams, clients and supply-chain partners.

The Opportunity

Do you want a Health & Safety role where you can genuinely influence how major infrastructure projects are planned and delivered?

Principal People are working with a leading Tier 1 infrastructure contractor to recruit 2 x Health & Safety Advisors to support a major infrastructure framework across Yorkshire. Driven by significant growth and an increasing workload, the contractor has approximately 20 live projects, with further expansion anticipated across its secured infrastructure portfolio.

The work is increasingly focused on pipeline installation, heavy civils, excavations, service avoidance and water main replacement schemes, offering the opportunity to get involved in a varied portfolio of essential infrastructure projects. You'll join an established and growing H&S team, working closely with operational teams throughout the project lifecycle. This is a hands-on role for someone who can bring a practical, forward-thinking approach to health and safety, influence decision-making and act as a trusted advisor to the business.

What you will be doing
